Production Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager, to effectively oversee the production process, ensure delivery deadlines are met while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. You’ll manage resources efficiently, lead and motivate a skilled team, and continuously seek improvements in operations and processes.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Health & Safety: Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with regulations. Conduct audits, risk assessments, and implement safety training programs.
- Production Planning: Develop and implement accurate production schedules, coordinating with other departments to ensure timely delivery of customer demands.
- Quality Control: Establish and maintain high-quality standards, working with the Quality team to address issues and implement corrective actions.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements using lean manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Team Management: Supervise and support production staff, ensuring high attendance, efficiency, and morale. Provide training and development opportunities.
- Resource Management: Oversee equipment maintenance, manage inventory levels, and work with HR to maintain labour capacity.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage the production budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensure on-time delivery and high-quality outputs while addressing any customer concerns promptly.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and stay updated on industry trends to maintain competitiveness.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Production Manager in a metal fabrication/manufacturing environment, including pressure and heavy vessel manufacturing.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, deliver, and manage resources effectively.
- Knowledge of welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Robot Welding, Key Hole Plasma) is beneficial.
- Understanding of Health & Safety (IOSH), Quality Systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience in managing performance, absence, and employee engagement.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Projects) and familiarity with ProAlpha is desirable.
