Columns

Our projects range from single replacement pressure vessels for established plants, to multiple vessel orders for entirely new sites - in the UK and overseas.

As a reliable UK manufacturer of pressurised columns, we support both planned installations and urgent replacement requirements, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing industrial operations. Our role as a specialist supplier means you benefit from a fabrication partner that understands the complexity of integrating new columns into existing systems.

LTi Vessco possesses considerable experience in the manufacture of pressurised columns for the petroleum, LNG, petrochemical, chemical and nuclear power industries. Our columns can be fabricated in carbon steel, stainless steel, clad materials or nickel alloys.

Each pressurised column is manufactured to meet exact duty requirements, whether for distillation, fractionation, filtration, or scrubbing processes. Our bespoke fabrication approach ensures compatibility with your plant design, operating pressures, and process conditions.

TYPES OF COLUMNS INCLUDE

  • Distillation columns - Designed for efficient separation processes within complex industrial systems.
  • Fractionating columns - Engineered for precise fractionation performance in oil and gas and chemical applications.
  • Filtration columns - Supporting process filtration where reliability and performance are critical.
  • Amine regenerator columns - Built for demanding gas treatment and regeneration systems.
  • Scrubbing columns - Used in gas cleaning and emissions control processes across industrial environments.
  • Demethaniser columns - Supporting separation processes in LNG and petrochemical systems.
  • Deaerator columns - Designed for removal of dissolved gases in process and power applications.
  • Quench Columns - Engineered for rapid cooling processes within high-temperature systems.

As a bespoke column manufacturer in South Wales, we design and fabricate each unit to meet specific process requirements, ensuring long-term reliability and consistent performance in demanding industrial environments across the UK.

DOCKSIDE FACILITIES

These very large vessels, which can be over 50 metres in length and weigh more than 300 tonnes, often pose a problem for road transportation. At LTi Vessco we use specialist road transport vehicles and high level transport routes to dockside facilities (at Swansea and Barry in South Wales, UK) ensuring that even the largest columns can be shipped out to clients around the world with minimal forward planning.

Our proximity to key ports in South Wales allows us to operate as a practical and efficient supplier of large-scale pressurised columns, reducing logistical complexity and enabling smoother export processes for UK and international projects.

ASSEMBLY

An important part of pressure column manufacturing is assembly on site. This requires careful planning, as many of our projects involve replacement sections for existing columns.

Our engineering teams work closely with your site teams to ensure installation aligns with operational schedules, safety requirements, and plant constraints. This collaborative approach helps reduce downtime and ensures seamless integration of new or replacement pressurised columns into existing systems.

REPLACEMENT SECTIONS

When a section needs replacing for an existing column, the parts are manufactured in the UK, shipped to client locations and assembled on site by our specialist team of pressure engineers, who project manage the build in collaboration with the plant operator and local installation and maintenance partners.

This end-to-end capability allows us to act as a reliable provider of replacement column sections, ensuring consistent fabrication quality and efficient on-site execution.

Recent renovation/replacement projects include:

  • Bottom replacement sections:  Weighing up to 40 tonnes and delivered to international sites. sites in North Africa)
  • Skirt replacement: Supporting structural integrity and long-term performance.
  • Reboiler sections: Manufactured for integration into existing process systems.
  • Lower fractionation sections: Designed for compatibility with existing fractionation columns.

COLUMN REPAIRS

We approach column repairs with the same level of engineering control as new manufacture, ensuring that repaired pressurised columns continue to perform reliably within demanding industrial systems. This includes maintaining structural integrity, restoring operational performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
